Lives of service and sacrifice reflect a deep understanding of truth. If you seek to engage in the helping process with those in need the Social Work Program is one of the most versatile programs here at Philadelphia Biblical University. We seek to develop students with a heart of service for biblical integration and social work practice. Our Social Work program has been fully accredited since 1974, and has existed for over forty years. Our graduates are mentored to pursue holiness and God’s love in relationship to others.
Social work focuses upon the relationships individuals have with each other, with their families, and with their communities. Social workers can be found in public organizations and private businesses, as well as medical and mental health settings. Social workers are the largest providers of mental health and therapy services in the nation. They are in every level of government, education, research, and a growing number are elected political leaders and legislators. Social workers counsel individuals, work with groups, administer organizations, and resolve conflict. They impact lives using gifts of leadership, compassion, and mercy. Social work is the art of holistically helping people make willful decisions and assisting individuals as they navigate through difficult situations.
When you consider all the options social work allows, you will soon realize that social work is ideal for ministry. The integration of a biblical foundation with professional interpersonal skills is a powerful combination. Those who minister with social work training find themselves at an advantage in knowing how to help the whole person in the contemporary environment.
