A unique and exciting component of the year
of study at IJS is the study tour in March of each year.
Our first touring choice is the land of Israel. In the event
that travel to Israel is not advisable because
of security, the IJS Study Tour will travel to another
Bible
Land, such
as Greece, Italy, or Turkey. This thrilling experience is
recommended for all full-time students. Other PBU students,
family, and friends are also invited, but the tour is primarily
geared for IJS students. The IJS classroom courses have been
arranged in such a way so that students receive the maximum
benefit of preparation for the trip. The study tour is directed
by the Institute of Jewish Studies personnel who have hosted
numerous tours as well as highly qualified local guides.
Our tour delves deeper than the average tour into the history
and biblical significance of many sites. We also visit a
variety of locations that are omitted on most tours.
While the tuition cost
of the course, Mi114, is part of the student’s full-time tuition at
IJS /PBU (not counted as an overload), the cost of the
tour itself is not covered
in the tuition cost. However, the cost is kept to a minimum
through economical accommodations and meals.
It is a first-class learning experience in every way. Our
study tour proves to
be one of the highlights of the year’s study at the Institute. It is a
time when students are able to put together all they have learned in the classroom
as well as a time to bond together as a group.
