Joseph Loconte to Lecture on
Political & Religious Problems with Utopianism

March 2006

Joseph LoconteMr. Joseph Loconte, Senior Fellow at the Ethics & Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C., will present a free guest lecture at PBU on Wednesday, March 22nd at 6 p.m. in Lewis Holmes Hall (Room 210) of the Cook Biblical Learning Center. He will discuss problems with religious and political utopianism. Also, he will be a guest speaker during PBU Chapel at 10 a.m. the same day. The presentations are being offered as part of PBU’s School of Arts and Sciences Lecture Series.

Loconte previously was the William E. Simon Fellow in Religion and a Free Society at the Heritage Foundation. Also, he was deputy editor of Policy Review where he wrote widely about religion and politics. He is editor of the book “The End of Illusions: Religious Leaders Confront Hitler’s Gathering Storm” and author of the book “Seducing the Samaritan: How Government Contracts are Reshaping Social Services.” Since 1996 Loconte has served as a regular commentator on religion and culture for National Public Radio’s All Things Considered.

A native of Brooklyn, NY, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana and has a master’s degree in Christian History and Theology from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL.
