The Pastoral Counseling
Program is designed for both men and women engaged in
Christian counseling in the context of the local church.
Whether counseling as a church volunteer or staff member,
the program provides foundational instruction to equip
in the areas of Christian counseling, discipleship,
spiritual direction or formation. Complete the entire
program of ten courses in two semesters. Attend all
ten courses and receive your certificate in Pastoral
Counseling from Philadelphia Biblical University. Courses
are also available for non-certificate personal enrichment.
No prior college or counseling training is necessary
for enrollment.

LCN001 Intro to Helping Relationships - A course which introduces the student to the basic skills and techniques for effectiveness in the helping process from a biblical perspective. |

LCN007 The Bible and Care Giving - A course which contextualizes counseling into the context of Christian community and the local church utilizing Psalm 139 as a biblical model. |

LCN003 Lifespan Development - Identifies theories of individual moral, psychological, and spiritual development, and looks at the variables that influence behavior. |
November 15

LCN006 Issues in Confidentiality - A course designed to orient students to some of the major legal and ethical issues that affect and regulate the practice of counseling with particular emphasis on confidentiality and related issues. |
December 6

LCN013 Helping Others Through Trauma, Loss and Grief Issues - A course that explores the psychological process of dealing with and recovering from traumatic experiences, life crises, and various losses in one's life.

LCN004 Helping Adolescents Through the Developmental Process Designed to introduce the student to knowledge concerning who an adolescent is, what the needs of an adolescent are, and techniques in how to offer help. |

LCN009 Gender Issues in Helping Relationships - Relationships-Acquaints students with gender specific issues in counseling with regard to the biblical design of created, fallen, and redeemed maleness and femaleness. |

LCN011 Building Healthy Marriages - Marriages-Provides an overview of issues, procedures and common models of counseling with particular emphasis on how problems develop in marriage and how they are resolved. |
